EXPLORE

Having been a member of flicknow for coming close to 2 years I was over the moon yesterday when an images I had posted was actually put into Explore. Explore is a feature on flickr where some of the most interesting pieces of work are selected to be viewed by all. Its always bothered me that none of mine has ever gone in before when time and time again I see the same photographers work posted over and over again. I have recently joined a new group on flickr where they are posting g a daily challenge. I hope this will encourage me to use my imagination a little with my photography and subsequently might open things more for my blog posts.

This was for the word ~ Photo Art ... It was taken on a morning walk through the woods round the corner from my house. Unfortunately they are not well treated wood as all. Lots of vandalism and Junk trashed every where, but If you stand at a certain point you can see a glimps of how lovely they could be if they had been looked after. My image leaves lots to the imagination  because if you looked just behind me you would never believe you were in the same place, Still im glad I gave these forgotten mistreated trees their moment of glory.

The word of the day was HUMOUR ..
Having been desperately trying to fin a good book to read for a while now, its been great to loose my self in Jo Brands Auto b. J B was the first female comedian I ever came across that made me laugh when I was 14/15 years old and would watch her each Saturday night while I was baby sitting for neighbours ~ I remember being shocked to the core at the highly outrageous one lines she would pull out.
Elements was the subject of the day when I took this photo. I have always liked water photos and really used the group for what it was for, to take some time out taking photos of things I wouldn't usually even think to do.

Early morning moon

27 July 2011, 04:48:46 am

The only problem when you wake up early to let the cat out and decide to shoot some photos of the moon is, that by the time you put the camera away your wide awake and ready to face the day.

Schools out for the summer ~ Good By Kirkley schools.

Whoooo .... Thursday marked the last day of term for Big C and Little C who were still at school. Both S and C had broken the day before..  I always look forward to the run up to the summer holidays, finding out the children's new teachers and what friends they have in their class, usually gets us mums in the play ground talking for a few weeks.

However with the middle school closing its been tinged with a little sadness. The kids of " kirkley" get a bad reputation. But they are not bad kids and the school turned its self around alot since being in special measures .. Kirkley High is also finished, It is being turned into an academy and as from Septuember will be known as East Coast Academy will have new managment and some new staff, its nice that some of the middle school staff will be there, some fimiler faces for the students ...

So here's to the kids as we make the most of this summer break take a little time to enjoy the good weather and unwind before we get ready for their new school, their new class and new friends.

Thought for today ....

When words become unclear,

 I shall focus with photographs

. When images become inadequate,

I shall be content with silence. ~Ansel Adams

Jack Sparrow

I love my cats I really do, but im starting to wear thin with all their little gifts the keep bringing home. Ive lost count now of the amount of birds, mice and butterfly's they have caught this year alone. Its becoming a regular habit to wake up to find a poor unfortunate bird dead on the floor just at the foot of my bed. Each time ive narrowly missed stamping on it. I guess I should still be thankful they have not left it in my bed!
In this post im going to introduce you to Jack, I think its only fitting that a bird so brave gets his two minutes of fame. Harley caught Jack yesterday morning, I was watching tv and I heard the most almighty squeeling, High pitched and frantic, jumping up from my seat I see Harley thrashing the poor bird from side to side, I managed to scare Harley into  letting go for a spilt second and Jack used all his mite to fly out the front door, only to crash and land. I thought he was dead, or dying, I sat back and watched from a far because I have seen birds just get up and fly once the shock has worn off. Jack didn't apear to do this so I dropped him off at the vets, the vet took a look at him and said that thankfully he is likely to survive, he had a wound just under his wing. He was transported to the bird sanitary late afternoon and with a little luck will be flying our sky's again in no time. Hopefully not over my house tho!

So why jack? Well I thought he was a sparrow. I was also told he could have been a thrush, but no he was neither and the vet confirmed he was in act a black bird .. if some what brown!

Memories

Posting up some old video clips, that are held on a YouTube account that ive since forgotten all log in details too.

Caylebs first attempts at crawling, he had literately got the hang of crawling that day, after a few weeks of rocking and moving out just one knee, he finally got the hang of moving his arms and legs at the same time.

Charday playing the penny whistle, She learnt this at school during an after school club.

Having a little sing song to one of the toys that came free with a Mcdonads Happy Meal.

Sammies old Gymnastic team ... She started gymnastic when she was 4 years old and quit when she was about 11.6. I was very sad to see her quit having put so many hours of hard dedication into the club,But things were not running  smoothly there, and her coach Annette had left, leaving the girls team without a dedicated coach, they had lots of stand ins but none who really wanted to see them achieve quiet like Annette did, This was dishearting to us all, gymnasts and parents and in the end it became to much, the girls started quitting one by one, Sammie and her friend Sarah were the remaing two and then Sam made her decision to quit. I dont think she has ever regretted it, the 3 evenings a week training were a big drain on her social life. Thankfully her and Sarah have remained good friends.

These all seem such a long time ago .... Kids grow so fast!

Its Show time

Today, was Caylebs end of year show they were doing a production of " taking me higher" their verison of Sister Act! Hes been working so hard on his, having to remember his timing and dance steps, learning the song lyrics. C was a gangster and also part of the red choir. His day started with an easrly Sunday wake up call, a quick breakfast and a final costume check, we garbed his pack lunch and headed to the Seagull threater where he was meeting up with the rest of the group. The Coach came to collect them at 10 and I waved him off as he took his seat with his little friend Brandon as they headed off to The New Cut theatre in Halswoth to have a full/sound and light rehearsal before the show started at 4.30pm.
It was so exciteing to see him up on the stage he, had been looking forward to this for a long time, It was such a hot day and at one point I was worried that he might even pass out, I could see that he had a spot light shining straight on him for quiet a while at one point and he was beginning to look very weary, but like a true show man he sang on with such enthusiasm.
Way to go my little star you make me so very proud love you lots ::: mwah:::

Sick days and Sunny days

Monday 4th July. Turned out to be the most unexpectedly nice day ..  Middle C was home from school
with a sore throat, so we took a trip up the Drs first thing, he gave her a course of antibiotics
which after the first dose seemed to numb the pain, we decided to make the most of the beautiful sunshine,
and go get an ice cream! After all she isnt ill enough to not be about the house, and the Dr had given her the ok to return to school the next day *PLUS*  The house is chaos still and trying to rest in side with all this building work is a no go.

I grabbed the camera and we headed out just after lunch for a  slow walk along the sea front and down the fen,  I asked Charday to help me with a mini  photo project I wanted to do with looking for some nice daises to picture!
She was very up for this, and spotted lots of  beautiful clusters we could capture,

A perfect sunny day ... with the company of my very funny little girl. warm sun shine, the light breeze
and bright blue skys with summer clouds

We wandered from the beach to the fen, she was reminiscing of the times she could remember
from when she was much  younger,  I have photos taken just past that tree from when we first moved here,
The park has changed as much as the children over the years,

Charday's daisy .. she set this shoot up for me, Without realising what she was doing I watched her carefully choosing what daisy to pick and placing it in between the slats, before showing me, the beautiful shadow ..

Some times the best days are the really unexpected ones ... a reminder that every cloud does have a silver lining ...
